Trip to Essen

Hey, it’s good to be back with another weekend post! This past weekend (March 24-26) was pretty busy, but I had a ton of fun!    Friday I got out of school super early, because a lot of my teachers were on the school ski trip. I wish I was skiing, but a bit less school is good too. After school I met my fellow exchange student and friend, Sean, in the city to hang out. We went to a cool store that had a bunch of Australian goods, and had a good chat with the Australian store owner. This made me really want to see Australia some day… Afterwards, we met our other exchange student friend, Marc, to get some food before we went to a basketball game all together. After a fierce battle between Pad Thai and burritos, we eventually decided to get some Bay-Area style burritos, and some frozen yogurt for dessert.                       Afterwards we walked to the train station, and headed to the basketball arena. The game was between the Köln RheinStars and the Paderborn Basket

Half Marathon Weekend

Hi everyone! Here's another quick post from this past weekend.      This past school week was actually pretty eventful, because I had several presentations in different classes such as spanish, religion, and art. But the weather had finally gotten much nicer in Germany, so I found time after school to go to a park. Tuesday I went with Emma and Marc to the Grüngurtel, Köln’s biggest park. It was perfect weather; the sun was out, it was 60 degress, and no clouds in sight. We just had a nice afternoon in the park, and enjoyed the weather before the normal grey, cloudy sky returned.      Saturday I met with a friend in the city, and afterwards went to my first football match in Germany (I don’t know how it’s taken me so long). Our team, 1. FC Köln, was playing against Hertha BSC, from Berlin. Hertha was currently a few places ahead of FC Köln, so it was going to be a good match. Luckily FC Köln came out on top, 4-2, after a great game. Football games are really quite spect

Elvis: Das Musical

Hey everyone, I’m back and hopefully consistently. I’ll just pick up with a blog over last week (March 5-12), and I’ll post December/January/February soon.    Sunday I made pizza for my whole host family, as it was my host mom;s birthday. Luckily it was a big hit, and everyone had a good time. Tuesday I was back in the kitchen, making tortillas and taco meat for a taco night. Tacos are not a normal meal for my host family, so I’m glad I was able to bring a little something from home to Germany. Once again everything turned out well, and the tortillas were delicious.               Wednesday my host-grandparents visited, so we could all go to a musical that evening. After school we went to a restaurant grab a bit, and then we headed to the musical. The musical was called “Elvis, Das Musical”, so as you can probably tell it was about Elvis. It was a really great show, and the Elvis impersonator was amazing. He had the accent down, sang all the songs just like Elvis, and m
